01.11.2024 Lesser Black-backed Gulls passing Noirmont this morning MD
A second day of overcast conditions and moderate to poor visibilty in a light easterly wind
It was another good morning for migrants passing Victoria Tower among which were 33 Hawfinches, 2 Swallows, 397 Redwings, a Fieldfare, a Mistle Thrush, 18 Song Thrushes, 3 Blackbirds, 10 Skylarks, a Merlin, 436 Chaffinches, 6 Bramblings, 2 Siskins, 34 Goldfinches, 52 Meadow Pipits, 9 Pied Wagtails, 2 Chiffchaffs, 4 Goldcrests and 4 Cormorants.
Good numbers of the commoner species were seen passing Noirmont, which included 2,135 Woodpigeons, 4 Stock Doves, a Golden Plover, a Snipe, 2 Swallows, 23 Skylarks, 14 Song Thrushes, 21 Redwings, 7 Blackbirds, 1,105 Starlings, 507 Chaffinches, 116 Linnets, 27 Goldfinches, 289 Meadow Pipits, 2 Pied Wagtails, 13 Lesser Black-backed Gulls, and on the ground, 6 Stonechats, 4 Blue Tits, 8 Robins, and 2 Ravens.
In a maize field near to La Rocque were a male Cirl Bunting, 3 Reed Buntings, 75 Linnets, 50 Chaffinches, 35 Meadow Pipits, 40 Skylarks, a Lapwing, 2 Ravens, 9 Collared Doves, a Marsh Harrier and a Merlin. 750 Woodpigeons were seen inflight over Rozel Harbour, where a Buzzard was also present.
The Snow Bunting was still near to Fort Henry, with 6 Stonechats also in the area. A Kingfisher was on St Catherine's Breakwater and another Kingfisher was in the Old Harbour in St Helier.
Near the Cutty Sark in St Ouen's Bay were 2 Black Redstarts, 28 Ringed Plovers, 5 Dunlin, 4 Sanderlings and 6 alba Wagtails. A female Wigeon was on the Scrape and 7 Snipe were in Beaumont Marsh.
Late update: At Grouville Marsh, 86 Jackdaws flew in to roost, and also there were 3 Firecrests, 2 Chiffchaffs, 8 Reed Buntings, a Grey Wagtail, 6 Redwings, 2 Grey Herons, 2 Marsh Harriers and a Sparrowhawk. This evening, Barn Owls were seen at Grands Vaux and in Victoria Village.
