03.01.2024 Grey Heron over St Ouen's Pond MD
Another mild but squally day with heavy showers in a strong west-southwest wind.
This morning's Corbiere counts included a Great Skua, 383 Razorbills, 88 Guillemots, 2 Fulmars, 35 Gannets, 75 Kittiwakes and 35 Great Black-backed Gulls.
At La Sente were a Shelduck, an Egyptian Goose, 24 Grey Herons, 34 Cattle Egrets, 10 Little Egrets, 62 Curlews, 54 Redshanks, 5 Greenshanks, a Dunlin, a Mediterranean Gulls and a Common Gull.
The Hen Harrier was seen again at St Ouen's Pond and 54 Lapwings were on the Scrape.At La Saline were 11 Little Egrets and in fields at L'Etacq were 9 Cattle Egrets. In the Sandpits were a Black-necked Grebe, 6 Little Egrets, 7 Pochards and 18 Tufted Ducks.
At Beaumont Marsh were 214 Brent Geese including 21 pale-bellied Brent, 3 Little Egrets, a Curlew, 4 Mediterranean Gulls and at St Aubin were 41 Redshanks and 17 Turnstones. 4 Brent Geese were in the Old Harbour in St Helier.
