Yet another day of fog, often dense and not clearing with a southeast wind
Despite the fog, birds were still on the move and mostly visible if they were overhead! Passing Victoria Tower were 2 late Swallows, 824 Redwings, 18 Fieldfares, 35 Song Thrushes, 11 Blackbirds, 114 Skylarks, 1,104 Woodpigeons, 2 Lapwings, a Shoveler, a Common Gull, 282 Starlings, 1,242 Chaffinches, 8 Bramblings, 40 Linnets, 32 Goldfinches, 14 Siskins, 10 Pied Wagtails, 2 Grey Wagtails and 26 Meadow Pipits. On the ground were 2 Chiffchaffs, 2 Firecrests and 4 Goldcrests.
Passing Noirmont were 5,560 Woodpigeons, 2 Woodlarks, 112 Skylarks, 120 Fieldfares, 65 Redwings, 11 Song Thrushes, 6 Blackbirds, 1,124 Starlings, 18 Stock Doves, 298 Chaffinches, 69 Linnets, 19 Goldfinches, 51 Meadow Pipits, 3 Pied Wagtails, 7 Shovelers and 5 Lesser Black-backed Gulls, with 3 Stonechats, a Marsh Harrier and a Sparrowhawk also present.
Seen at the Scrape were the first Bittern of the Autumn and 6 Lapwings and by Kempt Tower were 6 Teal, 3 Reed Buntings, 4 Chiffchaffs and 2 Stonechats. A Ring Ouzel was seen by the side of the road , opposite Westlands Farm in La Route de Francfief in St Brelade.
32 Cormorants flying over St Helier was an unusual sight today, while in the Marina there, were a Black Redstart and a Kingfisher.
By Fort Henry on Grouville Common was the Snow Bunting again and at Fauvic were 29 Cattle Egrets, with 49 having been seen there yesterday. Seen from Seymour were 2 Ringed Plovers, 8 Grey Plovers, 10 Dunlin, 6 Redshanks, 12 Sanderlings and a Great Crested Grebe, while at La Rocque were 52 Brent Geese, 8 Grey Herons, 8 Little Egrets, 4 Redshanks, 6 Curlews and 2 Pied Wagtails. Another 20 Curlews, 5 Little Egrets and a Lesser Black-backed Gull were at Le Hocq.
