06.01.2024  male Shelduck in Petit Port Bay today


Light showers this morning becoming drier, feeling cooler in a northerly wind.


It was a second busy morning at Corbiere and in three hours, counts included 2 Pomarine Skuas chasing a Herring Gull together, 3 Red-throated Divers, 2 Black-throated Divers, 2 Common Scoters, 57 Gannets, 2 Fulmars, 610 Kittiwakes, 36 Mediterranean Gulls, 6 Black-headed Gulls, 4 Common Gulls and 22 Great Black-backed Gulls. One Harbour Porpoise was off the lighthouse. In Petit Port Bay were a Shelduck, 5 Brent Geese, 24 Curlews, and the usual Oystercatchers 1000+ Razorbills were seen feeding off Le Pulec. 6 Fulmars and 2 Choughs were seen at Grosnez


The Hen Harrier was seen at St Ouen's Pond again and on the Scrape were 29 Lapwings, a Grey Heron, 4 Snipe, 2 Shovelers, 2 Gadwall and over the Pond, 10 Marsh Harriers.


At St Aubin were 42 Redshanks and a Dartford Warbler was seen at Gorselands. In Beaumont Marsh were 133 Brent Geese, 18 of them pale-bellied Brent, 2 Pied Wagtails, a Curlew and 2 Little Egrets. In the New North Quay at St Helier were a Great Northern Diver, a Kingfisher, a Grey Wagtail and a Little Egret and another Grey Wagtail was at Norman's in Five Oaks.
