A cloudy to fair day in an east-southeast wind
Firstly, back to yesterday when 2 Brent Geese were seen in St Aubin's Bay, an early date for the first birds to return
The Dotterel was seen again at Les Landes this morning and a Wryneck was there this afternoon. Also there through the morning were 25 Wheatears, 2 Whinchats, a fly-by Bunting sp, possible an Ortolan, 8 Stonechats, a Tree Pipit, 115 Swallows, 36 House Martins, 70 Meadow Pipits, 30 Linnets, a Marsh Harrier, a Sparrowhawk and 2 Choughs.
In the Sandpits were a Black Tern, a Common Sandpiper, a Greenshank, 15 Little Grebes and 2 Great Crested Grebes. At St Ouen's Pond were 4 Wheatears and 2 Yellow Wagtails, with 3 Redshanks on the Scrape and a Stonechat and Reed Warbler. On St Ouen's beach were 3 Yellow-legged Gulls, 34 Great Black-backed Gulls, 10 Lesser Black-backed Gulls, 100+ Black-headed Gulls, a Greenshank, 9 Ringed Plovers, 6 White Wagtails and a Sparrowhawk and below Mont Matthieu were 5 Buzzards including a pale-phased bird.
Noirmont was far quieter than yesterday, but among birds seen there were a Hobby, 45 Yellow Wagtails, 3 Tree Pipits, 124 Swallows, 16 House Martins, a Meadow Pipit, 2 Wheatears, 3 Willow Warblers, 14 Chiffchaffs, 12 Robins, a Whitethroat, a Blackcap, 2 Peregrines and a Sparrowhawk.
Evening update: At Victoria Tower were 2 Willow Warblers, while in Grouville Marsh were 64 House Martins, 40 Swallows, 2 Willow Warblers, a Reed Warbler, 2 Water Rails and a Kingfisher
