A grey day in a biting northeast wind, 8c feeling like much less with the chill factor
It was the day for co-ordinated counts and the results of these will be posted on here in the next few days.
A selection of species passing Corbiere this morning include a Great Skua, a Little Gull, 7 Common Gulls, 5 Kittiwakes, a Red-throated Diver, a Black-throated Diver, c 750 Razorbills and c250 Guillemots. At Le Pulec were 2 Red-breasted Mergansers, a Great Crested Grebe and 31 Curlews.
Early morning at La Rocque saw 4 Great Northern Divers, 13 Red-breasted Mergansers, 17 Common Gulls, 9 Mediterranean Gulls, a Lesser Black-backed Gull, with 500+ Black-headed Gulls at Seymour Point. Off La Coupe mid-morning were 21 Red-throated Divers, a Black-throated Diver, 21 Brent Geese, 8 Razorbills and 3 Guillemots.
At La Sente were 19 Grey Herons, 5 Greenshanks, 3 Redshanks, 3 Lapwings, a Cattle Egret, 365 Brent Geese. At Grouville Marsh were 338 Black-headed Gulls, a Lesser Black-backed Gull, 28 Cattle Egrets and a Grey Wagtail. On St Ouen's Pond and Scrape were 70+ Lapwings.
Scattered reports from elsewhere included a Great Northern Diver and a Kingfisher at St Helier Harbour, a Black-necked Grebe, 4 Great Crested Grebes and 8 Dunlin at West Park, another Great Northern Diver and a Great Crested Grebe in Bouley Bay, 3 Brent Geese, a Great Crested Grebe, a Grey Wagtail and 2 Pied Wagtails in St Brelade's Bay, 3 Mediterranean Gulls at Petit Port, a Peregrine at Le Hocq and a Grey Wagtail at Greve de Lecq.
