A fair day with high cloud and a moderate southwest wind
There was another good selection of birds around St Ouen's Pond this morning. Seen from the Wetland Centre were the male Pintail, 9 Wigeon, 16 Shovelers, 4 Tufted Duck, and a Little Grebe, while at the Scrape were a Spoonbill, 236 Brent Geese, a Barnacle Goose, a White-fronted Goose, a Pink-footed Goose, 2 Shelduck, 31 Teal, 8 Lapwings displaying, a Snipe, 4 Skylarks and a female Stonechat.
There was little by way of seabird passage at Corbiere this morning with just a Great Northern Diver, 9 Common Scoters, 7 Razorbills and 2 Lesser Black-backed Gulls seen in an hour, although 26 Purple Sandpipers and 20 Curlews were roosting nearby.
18 Red-breasted Mergansers were off La Rocque and a female Black Redstart was at the Harbour. At La Sente were 130 Brent Geese, 2 Shelduck, 6 Teal, 2 Grey Herons, 21 Redshanks, 5 Greenshanks, 8 Pied Wagtails, 22 Cattle Egrets, 32 Black-headed Gulls, 6 Lesser Black-backed Gulls, 3 Common Gulls and 9 Song Thrushes.
At Beaumont Marsh were 252 Brent Geese including 20 pale-bellied Brent Geese, 4 Shovelers, 8 Pied Wagtails and a White Wagtail, and at St Aubin were 33 pale-bellied Brent Geese which included 7 juveniles, 24 Redshanks and 24 Turnstones which were roosting on a boat in the Harbour.
Evening update: At Grouville Marsh this evening were 2 Little Buntings, a Reed Bunting, 4 Chiffchaffs, 6 Water Rails, 2 Woodcock, 30 Jackdaws, a Grey Heron, a pair of Marsh Harrier and a Sparrowhawk, with 4 Common Gulls seen, flying over. In Vallee des Vaux were 12 Siskins, 4 Bullfinches and 2 Blackcaps and a Grey Wagtail was in Grouville Bay.
