A cold and grey day in a light south-east wind
Seabirds continue to be around in good numbers and seen passing Corbiere this morning were 14 Red-throated Divers, 2 Black-throated Divers, a Great Northern Diver, a Little Gull, 61 Kittiwakes, 11 Mediterranean Gulls, 1,280 Razorbills, 689 Guillemots, 58 Gannets, 2 Red-breasted Mergansers, 2 Shovelers, 3 Fulmars, 50 Curlews, 10 Grey Plovers and a Peregrine.
A similar mix of species seen at La Coupe included 12 Great Northern Divers, 2 Black-throated Divers, 25 Red-throated Divers, 178 Razorbills, 69 Guillemots, 3 Red-breasted Mergansers, a Teal, a Wigeon, 13 Brent Geese, 6 Gannets, 6 Common Gulls, 28 Black-headed Gulls, 3 Kittiwakes, 2 Curlews, a Turnstone, 14 Cormorants and 34 Shags.
At St Ouen's Pond were a Russian White-fronted Goose, 4 Gadwall, 4 Pochards, 20 Shovelers, a Common Gull, a Hen Harrier, 8 Marsh Harriers and a pale-phase Buzzard. In the backfields were a Pink-footed Goose and 70+ Lapwings. At Sands were 39 Ringed Plovers including a Polish ringed bird, 25 Sanderlings and 49 Dunlin.
Around La Sente were 6 Greenshanks, 33 Redshanks, 2 Shelduck, 3 Lapwings, a Grey Wagtail, 2 Grey Herons, 8 Little Egrets and 220 Brent Geese, at Le Catillon were 28 Common Gulls and one Lesser Black-backed Gull. In Rue du Pont were 7 Cattle Egrets with a further 12 Cattle Egrets seen at Maufant. In the maize fields at La Rocque were 12 Reed Buntings, a Bullfinch, 2 Stonechats, 7 Song Thrushes and a Sparrowhawk.
An orchard in Trinity held 5 Fieldfares and a Barn Owl and at Grands Vaux were 10 Tufted Duck and 2 Teal. 4 Bullfinches and 3 Woodcock were in Vallee des Vaux.
Some late extras for yesterday include a Great Norther Diver at La Collette, with another near the Demi des Pas and a Little Gull a mile south of Maitre Ile. Other birds at Les Ecrehous included a Rock Pipit, a Wren, 20 Oystercatchers, 20 Cormorants, 25 Shag and 25 Great Black-backed Gulls and Herring Gulls.
