A cold feeling day, mainly fair in a gusty northwest wind.
Migrants are in short supply at the moment, not surprising given the conditions. Birds seen at St Ouen's Pond Scrape this morning included a pair of Shelduck, a male Gadwall, a White-fronted Goose, 3 Shovelers including a pair, 4 Teal, a male Wigeon, 6 Lapwings, 2 Oystercatchers, 3 Wheatears, 20 Swallows, 5 Sand Martins and 70 Linnets.
Passing Corbiere this morning were 89 Guillemots, 4 Razorbills, 44 Gannets, 17 Fulmars, 7 Cormorants, 2 Kittiwakes, 34 Great Black-backed Gulls, 20 Lesser Black-backed Gulls and a Peregrine, while offshore were a Harbour Porpoise and a Grey Seal. 2 Shelduck were at Petit Port. In Les Ormes Valley were a Willow Warbler, a Whitethroat, 20 Blackcaps, 20 Chiffchaffs and 6 Tufted Ducks.
In St Brelade's Bay were 15 pale-bellied Brent Geese and a single dark-bellied Brent.
At La Sente were 17 Little Egrets, 4 White Wagtails and 2 Swallows with 53 Brent Geese, and 2 Swallows at Le Hurel. 5 Cattle Egrets were at Rue du Parcq. 10 Tufted Duck were at Grands Vaux.
An extra for yesterday was a
Short-eared Owl seen at Grouville Common in the evening.
