A fair day, becoming warm at 23c in a moderate south-southwest wind.
Seawatching produced a few decent sightings, starting at Corbiere, where a Sooty Shearwater was the pick, alongside 5 Balearic Shearwaters, a Manx Shearwater, 97 Gannets, 37 Lesser Black-backed Gulls, 12 Mediterranean Gulls, 10 Sandwich Terns and a Turnstone, while seen from a boat further offshore to the west of Corbiere was a steady passage of over 700 Balearic Shearwaters northwards, also 20 Storm Petrels and an odd sighting of a flock of 9 Mallard rafting three miles out to sea. A boil of Tuna a mile West of Grosnez attracted an Arctic Skua, 28 Gannets, 21 Mediterranean Gulls, 5+ Balearic Shearwaters, 7 Lesser Black-backed Gulls, 2 Fulmars, 30 Sandwich Terns and 60 Herring Gulls.
Around St Ouen's Pond were a flock of 11 Cattle Egrets, 2 Grey Herons, 50+ House Martins, 7 Swifts, 2 Sand Martins, 40 Swallows, 25 Sedge Warblers, 15 Reed Warblers, 6 Willow Warblers, Cetti's Warblers feeding young, 4 Water Rails, 2 Teal, a Wheatear, a Sparrowhawk, a Peregrine, 4 Marsh Harriers, 4 Buzzards and a Barn Owl. 5 Green Sandpipers and a leucistic Common Sandpiper were on the Scrape, also 34 Starlings. At Kempt Tower were a family of 4 Little Grebes, 7 Tufted Duck, 6 Coot, 4 Moorhens, 2 Water Rails, 18 Goldfinches and 9 Starlings. On Mont Matthieu were another family of 4 Little Grebes, 40 House Martins, 20 Swallows, 2 Willow Warblers, a Marsh Harrier, 2 Choughs and 40 Linnets.
Noirmont sightings included a Great White Egret, a first Whinchat of the Autumn, a Whimbrel, 4 Whitethroats, 2 Chiffchaffs, 10 Swallows and 4 Dartford Warblers while at St Aubin were 18 Redshanks and a Turnstone, with a Kingfisher at Bel Croute.
In Grouville Bay were 37 Ringed Plovers, 14 Grey Plovers, 9 Turnstones and a Curlew. 2 Barn Owls were seen near St John's Manor pre-sunrise.
Evening update: A Swift was seen at Beauport this evening, 81 Swallows were over Rue des Charrieres in St Martin, another 50 Swallows were over Vallee des Vaux and at the back of Green Island were 6 Curlews, 3 Turnstones and a Common Sandpiper. 300 Oystercatchers flew sothwest over Le Hocq around 6:30 pm.
A few extras from yesterday include 34 Curlews, a Whimbrel, 18 Lesser Black-backed Gulls, 20 Great Black-backed Gulls, 2 Yellow-legged Gulls, 22 Mediterranean Gulls and 8 Black-headed Gulls. Over Les Marais were 20 Swallows and 5 House Martins and seen on Mont Felard were 2 Choughs heading towards St Helier. A Honey Buzzard was seen descending into trees in St John around 7:15 pm, before heading off northwest again
