22.05.2024 one of today's Bar-tailed Godwits in Grouville Bay, thanks to Alan Gicquel


Sunny with moderate westerly winds


There are still a few waders passing through the Island. In Grouville Bay this afternoon were 15 Ringed Plovers, a Dunlin and 3 Bar-tailed Godwits. Up on the north coast east of Plemont 5 Razorbills in the sea, 6 House Martins and 2 Common Buzzards. Shelduck drakes were seen at Petit Port and Le Pulec, also a pair at Pontiac.


The large juvenile Lapwing was still at the Scrape and 10 Swifts were feeding over St Ouen's Pond, seven Swifts were also seen in St Aubin. At the pond near Kempt Tower 7 Tufted Ducks and a Little Grebe with one young.


In Le Braye Sandpit this evening 75 Sand Martins, 20 Swallows including 3 juveniles, 12 Swifts, 3 pairs of Stonechats, 2 pairs of White Wagtails, 8 pairs of Reed Warbler, 2 Cetti's Warblers, a Whitethroat, 18 Tufted Ducks, 2 Choughs, a Grey Heron, a Little Egret, 4 Marsh Harriers and 8 Oystercatchers.
