25.08.2024 Juvenile and adult Mediterranean Gulls at Petit Port today. MD
A fair to cloudy day with some light showers. Winds were from the West again
First, a couple of late reports for yesterday, with a Red Kite seen over fields to the East of Crabbe and 13 White Wagtails on the Farmer's Cricket
ground in St Martin.
Seen an the seawatch at Corbiere this morning were 25 Manx Shearwaters, 12 Balearic Shearwaters, a Fulmar, 64 Gannets, 97 Lesser Black-backed Gulls, 43 Mediterranean Gulls, a Kittiwake, 5 Black-headed Gulls, 23 Sandwich Terns, a Common Tern, 36 Curlews flying to roost, a Wheatear, 2 Yellow Wagtails, a Sparrowhawk, 2 Peregrines and 3 Ravens. At the same time, seen from Grosnez were 7 Manx Shearwaters, 22 Balearic Shearwaters, 70+ Sandwich Terns, 80 distant tern sp, 10 Lesser Black-backed Gulls, 8 Fulmars, 27 Gannets, a Wheatear and 2 Swallows, also 3 Bottle-nosed Dolphins. At Les Landes were 14 Stonechats, mainly juveniles, and 20 Swallows.
3 Swifts were over St Ouen's Pond and a Wheatear was at White Rock, Rozel. Roosting at Petit Port were 59 Mediterranean Gulls, 3 Black-headed Gulls, 221 Oystercatchers and 7 Little Egrets.
At the Farmer's Cricket ground today were 16 White Wagtails and 3 Ravens.
Also yesterday, 15 Little Grebes, a Gadwall and a Common Sandpiper were in the Sandpits.
