A fine and anticyclonic day in a fresh south-southeast wind, feeling warm at 23c
Noirmont struggled into life this morning, with some visible migration which included 600 Swallows, 70 House Martins, 20 Sand Martins, 3 Tree Pipits, 4 Yellow Wagtails, a White Wagtail, a Spotted Flycatcher, 8 Swifts, a Whitethroat, 2 Wheatears, 2 Stonechats, also 2 Choughs, a Marsh Harrier and a Peregrine.
At the Wetland Centre were 4 Wheatears, 2 Swifts and a trickle of Swallows and at the Scrape were 2 Grey Herons, 2 Shovelers, 7 Teal, a Greenshank, a Snipe and a Green Sandpiper, plus a Willow Warbler. n the Sandpits were 15 Little Grebes, 2 Great Crested Grebes, 16 Tufted Duck, 170 Coot, a Little Egret a Stonechat and a juvenile Marsh Harrier.
Seen from Grosnez were 15 Sandwich Terns, 2 Fulmars, 6 Black-headed Gulls, 12 Lesser Black-backed Gulls, 3 Whimbrels, 2 Little Egrets and a Grey Seal with a Sparrowhawk heading off North. On the ground there, were 3 Wheatears, several Stonechats and 40 Linnets with a few Swallows passing overhead. Seen from a boat 3 miles west of Grosnez were c180 Balearic Shearwaters and 35 Manx Shearwaters. Passing Corbiere early on were an Arctic Skua, 6 Balearic Shearwaters, a Manx Shearwater, 22 Gannets, 23 Cormorants, 24 Mediterranean Gulls, 12 Black-headed Gulls, 11 Lesser Black-backed Gulls, 6 Sandwich Terns, a Curlew, a Turnstone and 2 Grey Herons.
At Petit Port were 30 Mediterranean Gulls with another 25+ offshore, a Yellow-legged Gull and 13 Little Egrets. A Common Sandpiper was at Bonne Nuit. Gulls were anting over Red Houses this evening, which included 30+ Mediterranean Gulls and 10 Black-headed Gulls, also a Sparrowhawk passed by.
