30.05.2024  This Oystercatcher is a constant companion for any seawatch at Corbiere at the moment   MD

A cloudy start, becoming fine in a strong northwest wind.

As the wind increased through the morning, there was a small amount of seabird movement past Corbiere, totals including 12 Balearic Shearwaters, 15 Manx Shearwaters, 3 Guillemots, 19 Gannets, 2 Fulmars, a Shelduck and 3 Lesser Black-backed Gulls. A Chough and 5 Swallows passed by and yesterday's Wheatear was still present on the headland.

On the Scrape were the pair of Shelduck - now with 2 small chicks, also 10 Swifts were overhead.  A Reed Warbler was in song near the Frances le Sueur Centre on the Five Mile Road and another pair of Shelduck was at Le Pulec.

Dartford Warblers are still in short supply with just a single male found at Portelet and another male at Ouaisne.  2 Peregrines and a Buzzard flew over Portelet and 10+ Chiffchaffs, including some young in the nest, were also at Ouaisne.

Another Chough was heard over Pier Road, in St Helier.

This evening in fields below Val de la Mare reservoir,  were  a pair of Cetti's Warblers, 2 pairs of Reed Warblers, the Pink-footed Goose with it's Barnacle Goose friend, and a second Barnacle Goose nearby, also a pair of Oystercatchers. In fields at Les Landes were a pair of Reed Warblers and a pair of Marsh Harriers.
