04.04.2024 Peregrine on the North coast recently MD
Today was remarkably similar to yesterday, with a dry morning of varying cloud amounts, and a wet afternoon as a front passed through in a strong southwest wind.
Although the weather was similar, there was much more activity offshore as viewed from Corbiere, with counts of 180 Manx Shearwaters, 65 Guillemots, 2 Razorbills, 5 Fulmars, 43 Gannets, 95 Kittiwakes, 2 Lesser Black-backed Gulls, 45 Sandwich Terns, 6 Common Terns, a Turnstone and 2 Swallows seen, also 3 Peregrines. 8 Brent Geese were in Petit Port Bay. At St ouen's Pond this evening were 21 Shovelers, 4 Sand Martins, 2 Swallows , a White-fronted Goose and a Pink-footed Goose
On the Scrape were 18 Teal, 2 Oystercatchers, 8 Lapwings, a Black-headed Gull, 30 Linnets and a Peregrine in hunting mode. A pale-phase Buzzard was seen near the Airport, where Skylarks could be heard in song. At Plemont were 2 Razorbills and a Swallow, with 15 Linnets seen at Les Landes.
2 Short-eared Owls were in flight over Le Catillon in Grouville, while at La Sente were 27 Brent Geese, 2 Shelduck, 2 Little Ringed Plovers, 2 Greenshanks, 3 Black-headed Gulls, a Lesser Black-backed Gull, 10 Cattle Egrets, 20 Little Egrets, 34 White Wagtails, 4 Pied Wagtails, 3 Swallows and 3 Sand Martins. At La Rocque were 59 Sandwich Terns, 11 Ringed Plovers, 2 Dunlin, 5 Red-breasted Mergansers, 25 Grey Plovers, 27 Curlews, a Bar-tailed Godwit and 49 Turnstones. A Willow Warbler was in song at Queen's Valley.
2 Sandwich Terns and 6 Guillemots were in the Harbour at Bonne Nuit and at Grands Vaux reservoir were 2 Swallows, with just one Siskin seen in Vallee des Vaux.
