St Aubin’s Bay

St Aubin’s Bay, on the Island’s south coast, offers the opportunity to see many waders and Brent Geese within walking distance of the Island’s capital, St Helier. From September through to April, Brent Geese of two races are present . As well as the Siberian dark bellied race, a small flock (up to 100 birds) of the Canadian light bellied race (hrota) may be seen. In spring, flocks of Great Crested Grebe and Red breasted Merganser are also regular and waders such as Sanderling, Ringed Plover, Dunlin and Oystercatcher winter. Little Egrets can always be found near the West Park bathing pool, as long as the tide is down.

Getting There

Walk west out of St Helier, along the sea wall and view from anywhere. There is paid public parking in all the lay-bys along Victoria Avenue.The pale bellied Brent Geese frequent West Park and the area outside St Aubin’s Harbour, at the western end (November to March).
