St Ouen's Pond

Located on the west of the Island , in St Ouen’s Bay, the pond and its surrounding reedbed has an enviable list of birds to its name. Marsh Harrier, Cetti’s, Reed and Sedge Warblers, alongside Lapwings, Shovelers and occasionally Common Pochard, are among the breeding birds. On migration, any species could appear and Bitterns winter in small numbers as well as several species of duck A regular wintering flock of Brent Geese will sometimes be joined by other species such as Bean and White-fronted Geese.


Getting There

Located on La Grande Route des Mielles ( the Five Mile Road) in the centre of St Ouen’s Bay, park in the car park at “Discovery Bay” apartments and cross the road to the National Trust Wetland Centre, where entry is free but opening times are regulated. 200 metres south , on the same side as the Wetland centre is a rough car park from where, access to a Bird Hide at the Scrape, is signposted
