01.12.2024 Jersey's second ever Black-winged Kite made a brief appearance at the Scrape this afternoon. Here it is being harassed by a pair of Magpie. Many thanks to Tom Frazer for this brilliant photo.
A mild sunny day with the odd shower to start December off nicely.
Apart from the Black-winged Kite there was not much else to see at St Ouens Pond with just 16 Teal, 25 Lapwing, 7 Marsh Harrier and a Sparrowhawk seen while the Bittern was seen again yesterday.
At Les Laveurs near Jersey Pearl were the Hoopoe, 3 Skylark, 3 Chough, 10 Meadow Pipit and 45 Brent Geese while near Sands were 40 Ringed Plover and 6 Sanderling.
Out East at La Sente were a Lapwing, 29 Brent Geese, 30 Black-headed Gull, a Lesser Black-backed Gull, a Marsh Harrier, a Cattle Egret and 4 Pied Wagtail while 350 Stock Dove were in fields along Rue du Pont.
Near the lifeboat station at St Catherine's were 350 Brent Geese, 2 Little Egret, 170 Black-headed Gull and 100 Carrion Crow and near St Johns Village were 110 Herring Gull, 2 Fieldfare, 2 Redwing, 6 Blackbird, 4 Jackdaw, 3 Buzzard and a Great Spotted Woodpecker.
