30.11.2024  One of our wintering Grey Wagtails, this one was photographed by Tom Frazer  at Queens Valley recently


A mix of sun and cloud today with a light southerly wind



Seen at Les Landes this morning were a Merlin, a Black Redstart, 5 Chough  and 5 Stonechat  while offshore were 9 Gannet  and 7 Fulmar and down at Le Pulec were a Kingfisher  and 8 Little Egret.


The Hoopoe  was still in residence feeding on the beach near Jersey Pearl.


In Grouville Bay this afternoon were 580 Brent Geese, 300 Black-headed Gull, 550 Dunlin, 220 Sanderling, 198 Grey Plover, 12 Ringed Plover, 28 Turnstone, 24 Curlew, 16 Redshank and 2 Bar-tailed Godwit while at La Sente were a Shoveler and a Lapwing.


Elsewhere 3 Fieldfare  were in an orchard in St Mary, a Grey Wagtail  was in a garden at Greve de Lecq, 33 Redshank  were at St Aubins and on Grands Vaux were a Grey Wagtail and 7 Cormorant.

01.12.2024 Jersey's second ever Black-winged Kite made a brief appearance at the Scrape this afternoon. Here it is being harassed by a pair of Magpie . Many thanks to Tom Frazer for this brilliant photo. A mild sunny day with the odd shower to start December off nicely.
