A fair to fine day in a moderate west-northwest wind
There was an early flurry of seabirds passing Corbiere first thing this morning, which had petered out by 8am! Seen there were an Arctic Skua chasing a Great Black-backed Gull ( briefly), 2 Shelduck, 29 Manx Shearwaters, 3 Balearic Shearwaters, 3 Guillemots, 4 Fulmars, 17 Gannets, 25 Shags, 9 Cormorants, 2 Roseate Terns heading northwest, 8 Kittiwakes, 11 Lesser Black-backed Gulls, 2 Swifts, a Swallow, a Raven and feeding there, 9 Chough.
On St Ouen's Pond Scrape were the family of 4 Shelduck, 2 Little Egrets, 2 Lapwings, 5+ Reed Warblers, 2 juvenile Cetti's Warblers, while on St Ouen's Pond, apart from the feral Greylags, were 3 juvenile Shovelers, a Tufted Duck and, overhead, a Swift, 7 Sand Martins and 6 Swallows. and in front of the Wetland Centre, a female Shoveler with at least 8 juveniles.
In Grouville Bay were 9 Curlews and 2 Bar-tailed Godwits and among birds seen in St Catherine's Woods were a Short-toed Treecreeper, a Great Spotted Woodpecker, a family of Chiffchaffs and a Buzzard, while overhead were a Swift, 4 House Martins and 2 Swallows.
