A fair to fine day in a light northwest wind
A brief flurry of birds past Corbiere first thing included 9 Common Scoters, 10 Guillemots, 4 Manx Shearwaters, 3 Fulmars, 19 Gannets, and 3 Cormorants. 9 Chough were present again on the headland there. Overnight, 3 Storm Petrels were trapped and released at Corbiere, one already wearing a London ring.
Along the North coast were 4 Puffins, 6 Razorbills and 2 Peregrines.
At Kempt Tower pools, Whitethroats were seen carrying food for young with Blackcaps also calling there.
On Grouville Common were 2 singing Cirl Buntings and Kestrels with 2 young.
27.11.2025 The Snow Bunting was still happily feeding away along the sea wall in St Ouen's Bay this morning RdC Seen at Crabbe this morning were 220 Chaffinch , 2 Brambling , 30 Goldfinch , 8 Linnet , 14 Reed Bunting , a Redwing , 4 Song Thrush , a Stonechat , 2 Chiffchaff , a Sparrowhawk , a Marsh Harrier and 2 Chough . The Whooper Swan family were still at Grouville Marsh, 8 Cattle Egret were near Holme Grown and at La Rocque were 200 Sanderling , 50 Dunlin , 20 Curlew and a Grey Plover . In St Ouen's Bay alongside the Snow Bunting were 25 Goldfinch , 6 Skylark and 12 Pied Wagtail . In Vallee des Vaux this afternoon were 25 Redwing , a singing Song Thrush , 2 Siskin , 4 Goldcrest , 2 Firecrest , 2 Chiffchaff and 7 Greenfinch . Yesterday evening at St Ouen's Pond were 30 Reed Bunting , 15 Chiffchaff , 6 Cetti's Warbler , 2 Blackcap , 4 Water Rail and 12 Marsh Harrier .
26.11.2025 The Snow Bunting feeding well in St Ouen's Bay this morning, thanks to Tony Paintin for the photo In St Ouen's Bay this morning were 44 Ringed Plover , 17 Dunlin , 12 Sanderling , 46 Great Black-backed Gull , 2 Lesser Black-backed Gull , 6 Skylark , a Snow Bunting , 2 Stonechat , 25 Goldfinch and 10 Little Egret were at Le Pulec. Seen around St Ouen's Pond were a Bittern , 2 Snipe , 16 Teal , 27 Shoveler , 11 Tufted Duck , 3 Cormorant , a Little Grebe , a Water Rail and 3 Grey Heron . In Grouville Bay were 684 Brent Geese , a Black-throated Diver , 7 Great Crested Grebe and a Shelduck while at La Rocque were 21 Red-breasted Merganser and a Black-necked Grebe . Up at Noirmont were 50 Woodpigeon , 6 Chaffinch , 7 Meadow Pipit , 2 Song Thrush , 2 Black Redstart , a Yellow-legged Gull and 2 Common Gull . In St Aubin's Bay were a Kingfisher , 33 Redshank and 15 Turnstone and 159 Brent Geese at West Park. At Beaumont Marsh were 60 Brent Geese , 2 Grey Wagtail , a Snipe and 3 alba Wagtail while in St Brelades Bay were a Great Crested Grebe , 18 Raven , 2 Firecrest , a Grey Wagtail and a Black Redstart . 25.11.2025 A great shot of a Firecrest at Queen's Valley, taken by Tony Morin Seen in St Aubin's bay this morning were 32 Redshank , 17 Turnstone , 4 Great Crested Grebe and 200 Black-headed Gull with 66 Brent Geese at Beaumont Marsh. In St Ouen's Bay were 17 Sanderling , 12 Dunlin , 39 Ringed Plover , 2 Skylark , 4 Stonechat , 8 Pied Wagtail and a Snow Bunting while feeding offshore were at least 500 mixed Gulls and 200 Razorbill . A male Serin was seen along Chemin de L'Ouziere and at St Ouen's Pond were 16 Lapwing , 31 Shoveler and 27 Starling while in the Sandpits 9 Pochard and a Lapwing . The Whooper Swan family was still feeding at Grouville Marsh while on Queen's Valley were a Wigeon , 2 Teal and 7 Greenshank and 21 Cattle Egret were around La Sente and 2 more near Trinity manor. Yesterday afternoon at Grouville Marsh were 52 Coot , 2 Wigeon , 2 Grey Heron , a Firecrest , 5 Chiffchaff , 2 Water Rail , 25 Reed Bunting , 135 Redwing , 6 Song Thrush , 3 Marsh Harrier , 60 Starling and 94 Jackdaw .
24.11.2025 A handsome drake Shoveler taking off! RdC Seen at St Ouen's Pond this morning were 34 Shoveler , 2 Little Grebe and a Stonechat while 14 Curlew were at Le Pulec. Passing La Coupe were a Great Northern Diver , 38 Kittiwake , a Common Gull , 8 Guillemot and 487 Razorbill . A Great Crested Grebe was in St Brelades bay and 2 Pied Wagtail were in Parade gardens. The 5 Whooper Swan were still at Grouville Marsh, 11 Cattle Egret were at La Sente and 8 Grey Heron were at Fauvic.

In Grouville Bay this morning were 852 Brent Geese , a Pale-bellied Brent Goose , a Black-necked Grebe , 6 Great Crested Grebe , 560 Dunlin , 244 Sanderling , 210 Grey Plover , 16 Ringed Plover , 224 Turnstone , 22 Redshank , 7 Greenshank , 117 Oystercatcher and a Common Gull while 5 Red-breasted Merganser and a Peregrine were at La Rocque and between there and Le Hocq were 609 Oystercatcher , 15 Curlew , 52 Redshank , 23 Grey Plover , 18 Turnstone , 31 Sanderling , 11 Dunlin , a Shelduck and 14 Little Egret . Passing La Coupe were 5 Great Northern Diver , a Common Gull , 4 Mediterranean Gull , 33 Kittiwake , 4 Gannet , 341 Razorbill and 6 Guillemot . 35 Cattle Egrets were spread out in fields around La Sente, a pair of Wigeon were at Queen's Valley and the 5 Whooper Swan were still at Grouville Marsh. At the Scrape were 13 Lapwing , 60 Starling , a Firecrest and 4 Marsh Harrier while nearby 39 Ringed Plover were on the beach and at Petit Port were 50 Great Black-backed Gull and 3 Lesser Black-backed Gull . In St Aubin's Bay were 217 Brent Geese , 71 Pale-bellied Brent Geese , 31 Redshank , 15 Turnstone , 26 Oystercatcher and 4 Great Crested Grebe . Elsewhere, 200 Starling were at La Collette, a Grey Wagtail was in Old St Johns Road and 32 Redwing were in Vallee des Vaux.
22.11.2025 One of a good number of Common Gulls which have recently arrived along the east coast RdC Seen at a wet and windy Gorey this morning were 32 Common Gull , 3 Mediterranean Gull and 300 Black-headed Gull while further down the bay at Le Hurel were 11 Turnstone , 15 Cattle Egret were at La Sente and at La Rocque another Common Gull , 18 Ringed Plover, 70 Dunlin, 200 Grey Plover , 65 Oystercatcher , 15 Turnstone , a Great Crested Grebe , 320 Brent Geese , a Red-breasted Merganser and a Sandwich Tern with 2 Stonechat in nearby fields. The family of Whooper Swan were still at Grouville Marsh along with 5 Cattle Egret , 20 Chiffchaff , 2 Blackcap , 2 Firecrest , 2 Cetti's Warbler , 2 Reed Bunting , 8 Redwing , 4 Song Thrush , 6 Siskin , a Grey Wagtail , 2 Woodcock and a Water Rail while in fields near Grouville Parish hall were a Fieldfare , 6 Redwing , 400 Chaffinch , 5 Brambling , 15 Linnet , 30 Goldfinch , 2 Reed Bunting , 25 Jackdaw , 2 Raven and a Sparrowhawk and up at Le Catillon were 10 Common Gull and 9 Cattle Egret . Passing La Coupe this morning were the first Red-throated Diver of the autumn, 1,016 Razorbill , 2 Guillemot , 2 Common Gull , a Lesser Black-backed Gull , 7 Kittiwake and 4 Gannet . At Petit Port were 21 Curlew , 26 Great Black-backed Gull , 4 Little Egret and 25 Brent Geese. 21.11.2025 The Whooper Swan family was still feeding well at Grouville Marsh this morning, thanks to Alan Gicquel It was very quiet over Victoria Tower this morning with just a Woodcock , 6 Redwing , 5 Song Thrush and 48 Chaffinch flying over. A Great Northern Diver flew past St Catherine's breakwater and at La Rocque were 20 Ringed Plover , 24 Dunlin , 18 Grey Plover , 15 Little Egret , a Red-breasted Merganser and 400 Brent Geese . 3 Cattle Egret were near the Steam Museum and at least 20 were feeding at Grouville Marsh alongside the 5 Whooper Swans . 20.11.2025 The family of five Whooper Swan's at Grouville Marsh RdC Surprise of the day was a family group of 5 Whooper Swan which stopped off at Grouville Marsh, our first record of this species since 2014! Also there were 38 Cattle Egret and 2 Woodcock while 7 Cattle Egret were at Le Catillon and in fields along Rue de Jutize were 250 Chaffinch , 2 Brambling , 40 Goldfinch and 6 Raven . There was some fantastic movement of birds heading north past Corbiere in the first hour this morning, 10,264 Razorbill , 2,620 Guillemot , an Arctic Skua , 1,047 Kittiwake , 67 Mediterranean Gull , 56 Black-headed Gull , 2 Common Gull , 56 Gannet and 12 Brent Geese with 18 Purple Sandpiper and 22 Turnstone on offshore rocks. On the beach in St Ouen's this afternoon were 27 Great Black-backed Gull and 7 Black-headed Gull while on the Scrape were a Water Rail and 7 Lapwing and at Beaumont Marsh held 24 Brent Geese , 2 Grey Wagtail , a Pied Wagtail and 200 Starling . Elsewhere 2 Stonechat were at Gorselands, 40 Starling at Le Rocquier and 6 Redwing on Mont les Vaux. Yesterday evening at St Ouen's Pond were 2 Wigeon , a Woodcock , 15 Snipe and 2 Water Rail . 19.11.2025 A first winter Mediterranean Gull and a Common Gull flypast RdC A sea watch from Corbiere produced a mini Gull fest with a first winter Caspian Gull , 67 Lesser Black-backed Gull , 44 Great Black-backed Gull , 825 Herring Gull , 3 Common Gull , 142 Mediterranean Gull , 10 Black-headed Gull and 107 Kittiwake passing in the first hour of light, also past were 1,046 Razorbill , 19 Guillemot and 11 Gannet . Up at Sorel were 200 Redwing and 50 Chaffinch .
18.11.2025 One half of the pair of Peregrines that use the skies over Victoria Tower as their hunting ground RdC Passing over Victoria Tower this morning were 9,516 Woodpigeon , 26 Stock Dove , 569 Starling , 212 Redwing , 23 Song Thrush , 4 Blackbird , 8 Skylark , a Curlew , 206 Chaffinch , 6 Brambling , 28 Goldfinch , 3 Greenfinch , 2 Linnet and a Bullfinch . Nearby 2 Peregrine and 2 Raven were in La Crete Quarry, 2 Curlew , 7 Oystercatcher and 2 Little Egret were at St Catherine's, a Grey Wagtail was at Le Pres farm and a Kingfisher was still at Queen's Valley. In St Aubin's bay were 750 Brent Geese , 3 Curlew and a Grey Heron while around the GROW field were 15 Redwing , 12 Fieldfare , 30 Starling , 16 Goldfinch and 2 Firecrest . On Ouaisne common were 25 Chiffchaff , 10 Goldcrest , 8 Firecrest , 12 Blackcap , a Reed Bunting , a Fieldfare , 8 Redwing , 4 Song Thrush , 5 Blackbird , 4 Siskin , a Stonechat , 6 Raven , 2 Chough and a Sparrowhawk with 550 Woodpigeon , 15 Chaffinch and 2 Brambling flying over. In Les Ormes Valley were 6 Chiffchaff , 15 Goldcrest , 2 Firecrest , 2 Dartford Warbler , 8 Blackcap , 20 Redwing , 15 Song Thrush , 10 Blackbird , a Bullfinch and a Water Rail . At St Ouen's Pond this morning were 31 Shoveler , 3 Teal and a Grey Heron .
