Another clear day, and feeling warm despite the northwest wind.
Most birds have got their heads down as the breeding season continues, but once again, seabirds were flying past Corbiere and today, notably Shearwaters. In two hours early morning, 133 Manx Shearwaters and 7 Balearic Shearwaters flew by heading to the northwest. Also passing were 2 Shelduck, 10 Guillemots, 5 Fulmars, 20 Gannets, 6 Cormorants, 15 Shags, 2 distant tern sp. Great Black-backed Gulls were feeding small young on the cliffs there and also seen were 2 Swifts, 2 Swallows, 2 Peregrines and 2 Choughs.
A visit to Les Ecrehous yesterday evening saw 15 Curlews, 80 Oystercatchers, a Whimbrel, 7 Turnstones, 61 Great Black-backed Gulls, 52 Herring Gulls, 2 Lesser Black-backed Gulls and Rock Pipits feeding young. 55 Shags were ringed during the visit.
