05.07.2024 New arrivals on the Scrape today were 3 Barnacle Geese, including this bird with a neck collar (B83), identifying it as one of the naturalised population of Barnacle Geese in the UK. It has been seen regularly in England since it was ringed in 2022, also in France ( and now Jersey!)

A cool and overcast day until some brighter periods this afternoon, all in a southwest wind.
On St Ouen's Pond Scrape as well as the Barnacle Geese, were the family of 4 Shelduck, 4 Lapwings including 2 juveniles, an adult and a juvenile White Wagtail and overhead, 3 Swifts. Feeding at St Ouen's Pond were 20 Sand Martins, 8 Swallows and 3 House Martins.
In the Sandpits were 75 Swifts, 40 Sand Martins, 2 Common Sandpipers and 2 Stonechats. At Val de la Mare were a Dartford Warbler, a Blackcap, a Goldcrest and a Raven. 3 newly fledged Marsh Harriers were at Kempt Tower as well as 2 pairs of Stonechats.
Early morning passage at Corbiere included a Balearic Shearwater, 16 Manx Shearwaters, 4 male Common Scoters, 2 Guillemots, 7 Little Egrets, 91 Gannets, a Sandwich Tern and 14 Lesser Black-backed Gulls. In Petit Port Bay were 28 Curlews, 60+ Oystercatchers and 4 Black-headed Gulls and at La Pulente were the family of Shelduck with 3 young still, 24 Black-headed Gulls and 7 Little Egrets.
At Grosnez were a Swift, a Chough, a Peregrine, 2 Kestrels and 4 Lesser Black-backed Gulls. A male Marsh Harrier and a Chough were on Mont Matthieu.
In the East, 154 Black-headed Gulls and 2 Mediterranean Gulls and at St Catherine's were another 8 Mediterranean Gulls.
