09.03.2024 A couple of Cattle Egrets as they flew over La Sente recently RdC
A chilly overcast day with a few showers and a strong south easterly wind.
Seen at La Sente this morning were 200 Brent Geese, 5 Greenshank, 55 Redshank, 25 Cattle Egret, 34 Little Egret, a Mediterranean Gull, 11 Black-headed Gull, 2 Lesser Black-backed Gull and 23 Herring Gull while at Le Hocq were 54 Curlew, 165 Oystercatcher, 13 Little Egret, 2 Red-breasted Merganser and a pair of Kestrel.
At La Rocque were 285 Dunlin, 150 Sanderling, 42 Turnstone, 32 Grey Plover, 12 Curlew, 14 Ringed Plover and 4 Red-breasted Merganser and from Gorey to Le Hurel were a Common Sandpiper, 14 Turnstone, 24 Oystercatcher, 4 Teal, 2 Sandwich Tern, 6 Common Gull, 90 Black-headed Gull and a Mediterranean Gull.
On St Michael's Cricket field were 24 Mediterranean Gull, 8 Common Gull, 142 Black-headed Gull, 16 Lesser Black-backed Gull, 72 Pied Wagtail and 4 White Wagtail.
Out west at Petit Port were 124 Oystercatcher, 29 Curlew, a Turnstone, 26 Brent Geese, 62 Herring Gull, 7 Lesser Black-backed Gull and 5 Great Black-backed Gull and nearby at Corbiere were 16 Purple Sandpiper, 20 Turnstone and 4 Brent Geese.
In St Ouen's Bay were 6 Ringed Plover, 13 Dunlin, 16 Grey Plover, a Turnstone and 4 Little Egret while at the Pond were 9 Wigeon and on the Scrape were a Golden Plover, 7 Lapwing, 12 Teal, 3 Coot and 200 Brent Geese.
Elsewhere a Sandwich Tern was at First Tower, 25 Lesser Black-backed Gull were at Haute Croix, 100 Chaffinch near Jersey Zoo, 7 Tufted Duck and 7 Lesser Black-backed Gull were at Grands Vaux and at Beaumont Marsh were 4 Shoveler, 340 Brent Geese and 3 Pied Wagtail.
