Another fine and sunny day with light easterly winds
Starting at the St Ouen's Pond, there were three Garganey this morning, 2 drakes on the Scrape and a female at the North Canal. Also noted were 3 Shovelers, 2 Lapwing chicks, a Redshank, 2 Wheatears, a male Stonechat, a Spotted Flycatcher in the willows north of the Pond, 2 Sedge and c20 Reed Warblers, Meadow Pipits were feeding young, and overhead a Black-headed Gull, a Mediterranean Gull and 6 Swifts. On the pond at Kempt Tower 2 pairs of Tufted Duck and a Little Grebe with young. One lucky observer saw 2 Avocets flying down St Ouen's Bay this morning. Roosting at Petit Port were 100 Oystercatchers and a Whimbrel. A Yellow Wagtail was seen by Lewis Tower and a Little Grebe and a Cetti's Warbler were seen on Mont Mathieu.
Moving east, at La Sente the single Brent Goose and the Black-tailed Godwit were still present this morning, along with 4 Little Egrets, but a new arrival this afternoon was a Wood Sandpiper. Up on the north coast a Garden Warbler was in Egypt Woods and a Peregrine at Belle Hougue, also 2 pairs of Dartford Warblers here.
Finally 3 Sabine's Gulls were seen from the Condor Ferry near the Banc des Ormes Buoy, to the north west of Grosnez.
