13.06.2024 The Commodore Goodwill passing Corbiere inbound to St Helier this morning, being escorted by two dolphins, the identity of which is still being assessed. Consensus is moving towards White-beaked Dolphin, which, if confirmed, would be only the second record of the species for Jersey. MD
High cloud greeted the day, with a slow deterioration bringing rain this afternoon. Winds were fresh from the South
It was another decent day for seawatching and counts from Corbiere through the morning included 436 Manx Shearwaters, 20 Balearic Shearwaters, 3 Guillemots, a Razorbill, 5 Fulmars, 18 Gannets, a single Shelduck, 29 Shags, 3 Cormorants, 2 distant tern species, possibly Roseate Terns again, 10 Lesser Black-backed Gulls, and 20+ Great Black-backed Gulls, also 2 Peregrines and a Raven.
In Petit Port Bay was a pair of Shelduck, but there was no sign of any ducklings there. Also seen were 2 Curlews, 80+ Oystercatchers and 4 Little Egrets, with a Chough flying over.
A check around Fountain Lane found a Marsh Harrier, a Sparrowhawk, a Kestrel carrying food for young, 10 Linnets, a Cetti's Warbler, a Chiffchaff and a Greenfinch. At Gorey were two fledged White Wagtails, with a Whimbrel in the harbour there and 32 Swifts feeding overhead
