14.11.2024 A pair of Cattle Egret in flight RdC
A cloudy day with a very light easterly wind.
Seen passing Victoria Tower this morning were a Woodlark, 2,082 Redwing, 30 Fieldfare, 33 Song Thrush, 32 Blackbird, 3,045 Starling, 5,075 Woodpigeon, 25 Stock Dove, 224 Chaffinch, 10 Brambling, 14 Goldfinch, 2 Pied Wagtail, 9 Meadow Pipit and 3 Lesser Black-backed Gull while 12 Cattle Egret were at Le Catillon.
Out west a check of the Gulls in St Ouens Bay produced an adult Caspian Gull (First adult of this species recorded in Jersey), 5 Lesser Black-backed Gull, a Yellow-legged Gull, 44 Great Black-backed Gull, 110 Black-headed Gull, 54 Mediterranean Gull, 2 Common Gull and 35 Ringed Plover.
Around St Ouens Pond were a Wigeon, 9 Shoveler, 15 Teal, 21 Snipe, 18 Lapwing, a Kingfisher, 2 Water Rail, a Water Pipit, a Grey Wagtail and 8 Reed Bunting while in the nearby Sandpits were 3 Pochard, 2 Wigeon, 13 Tufted Duck, 20 Little Grebe, 24 Mediterranean Gull, 8 Chough and a Cetti's Warbler.
Early on 300 Woodpigeon were seen flying east over Springfield and a walk from Grouville parish depot to Boulivot found 210 Redwing, 7 Fieldfare, 5 Blackbird, 2 Firecrest, a Goldcrest and 3 Raven.
