15.11.2024 The last of four flocks of Barnacle Geese that passed Victoria Tower this morning RdC
Another cloudy day with a very light south easterly wind
A surprising movement of Barnacle Geese occurred over the north-east corner of the island, as a total of 54 were seen from Victoria Tower, passing by in four separate flocks.
Other than the Barnacle Geese it was a quiet day at Victoria Tower with counts of 326 Redwing, 40 Fieldfare, 11 Song Thrush, 4 Blackbird, 93 Starling, 171 Chaffinch, a Brambling, 25 Linnet, 19 Goldfinch, 8 Siskin, 4 Pied Wagtail, 3 Mallard and 17 Stock Dove, but not a single migrant Woodpigeon was seen for the first day in a while!
In Grouville Bay were 500 Black-headed Gull, a Mediterranean Gull, 150 Herring Gull, a Sandwich Tern, 8 Pied Wagtail and a Stonechat while on Icho Tower were a Kingfisher, 2 Rock Pipit, 3 Little Egret and 2 Grey Heron and near Grouville Parish depot were 11 Raven and 2 Pied Wagtail.
