16.11.2024 This Caspian Gull  seen in St Ouens Bay recently was ringed as a chick just south of Warsaw in Poland back in 2021. It is also the first time one has been seen that isn't a first or second winter. RdC


A cloudy day with a very light south-easterly wind


It was a very quite day for migrants over Victoria Tower due to the lack of a wind overnight, 1,491 Woodpigeon, 3 Stock Dove, 81 Redwing, 14 Song Thrush, 7 Blackbird, 386 Starling, 2 Reed Bunting, 386 Chaffinch, 5 Brambling, 21 Goldfinch, 12 Siskin, 9 Greenfinch, 7 Linnet, 8 Pied Wagtail and 6 Meadow Pipit while on the ground were a Firecrest, 4 Goldcrest and a Chiffchaff.


In Grouville Bay were 5 Common Scoter, 11 Great Crested Grebe and a Black-necked Grebe while at La Rocque were 2 Red-breasted Merganser, 2 Sandwich Tern, 2 Black Redstart and a Grey Seal.


Along La Grande Rue in St Marys were 37 Redwing, 7 Fieldfare, 25 Chaffinch, 9 Goldfinch, 3 Goldcrest  and 2 Stonechat  while 7 Redwing and 2 Fieldfare  were in the yard of St Clements Church.


In St Aubins Bay this morning were 600 Brent Geese which included 40 Pale-bellied, a Great Crested Grebe and 19 Redshank.


Yesterday  a Red Kite  was reported flying west along the clifftop near Grosnez, so one to keep an eye out for.
