16.01.2024 Blackbird enjoying the sun at La Coupe today MD
A fair to sunny morning, clouding up this afternoon, ahead of forecast rain ( possibly snow) overnight. Winds light southeast.
A clear and pleasant morning in light winds - always bad news for numbers of birds! Seen at La Rocque were 5 Slavonian Grebes, 3 Black-necked Grebes, 2 Great Northern Divers, 50 Red-breasted Mergansers and 2 Black Redstarts. Around the corner at Seymour were 300+ Dunlin, 250 Sanderlings, 35 Ringed Plovers, 2 Bar-tailed Godwits, 32 Grey Plovers and a Common Gull and at La Sente were 21 Redshanks and 5 Greenshanks.
Just a few birds were passing La Coupe and these included 11 Red-throated Divers, a Red-breasted Mergansers, 2 Common Scoters, 54 Razorbills, 9 Brent Geese, 3 Gannets, 9 Common Gulls, 2 Kittiwakes, 25 Black-headed Gulls, also 5 Bottle-nosed Dolphins and 5 Long-tailed Tits at the car park. Passing Grosnez were 8 Gannets, 15 Razorbills, 3 Kittiwakes and 2 Harbour Porpoises.
At Beaumont, 520 Brent Geese were feeding in the fields behind and east of Les Mielles Apartments.
On St Ouen's Pond were 6 Shovelers, 2 Gadwall, 7 Wigeon, a Little Grebe, a White-fronted Goose and 8 Snipe and on the Scrape were 16 Teal, 12 Wigeon and a Hen Harrier.
At Rozel Manor were 2 Cattle Egrets at in Rue de Causie in St Clement were 346 Brent Geese including one pale-bellied Brent, also a Barnacle Goose and coming in to roost there, were 64 Cattle Egrets and 33 Little Egrets.
