17.01.2024 An unhappy looking Guillemot at Corbiere this morning, preening almost continually, so probably an oiling victim MD
A desperate day, with continual rain, a temperature of only 4c and an unpleasant northeast wind, but at least it didn't snow!
Despite the conditions there was some seabird movement past Corbiere and in two hours a Red-throated Diver, 818 Razorbills, 321 Guillemots, 2 Brent Geese, 102 Gannets, 2 Fulmars, 5 Cormorants, 12 Shags, 5 Turnstones, 16 Kittiwakes, 2 Common Gulls, a Mediterranean Gull and a Lesser Black-backed Gull were seen. 2 Harbour Porpoises were feeding near the lighthouse.
On St Ouen's Pond were a Pink-footed Goose, 4 Gadwall, 9 Shovelers, 2 Pochard, 18 Wigeon and 5 Tufted Ducks.
A Mistle Thrush was a good find at Les Charrieres, St Peter and 5 Cattle Egrets were in fields at L'Etacq.
At La Sente were 18 Grey Herons, 21 Little Egrets, a Shoveler and 12 Redshanks and in fields at Beaumont were 500 Brent Geese and a Grey Wagtail, with another 20 Brent Geese and 25 Black-headed Gulls at Goose Green.
