18.03.2024 The watery theme continues, with this close up of the Pink-footed Goose at the Scrape today MD
There was drizzle and some hill fog to greet the day, but after that, a fair to cloudy day in a southwest wind.
Sea level was a good place to view from first thing, below the hill fog and early on, a Spoonbill flew past La Rocque, while at La Sente were 23 Cattle Egrets and 26 Redshanks.
Seen from the Wetland Centre was the first Sand Martin of the Spring on a brief flypast, while on the Pond were the Pink-footed Goose, the male Pintail, 17 Shovelers, 4 Wigeon, 2 Tufted Duck, a Grey Heron, a Water Pipit, a pair of Stonechat. a flock of 11 Linnets, and a Snipe while around the Scrape were the White-fronted Goose, the same Pink-footed Goose, 66 Brent Geese, a male Gadwall, 3 Wigeon, 71 Teal, a Curlew, a pair of Oystercatcher and a Little Egret, also a male Marsh Harrier transporting sticks towards his nest site while the female looked on! 10 Chough were at Les Laveurs and in the Sandpits were 16 Tufted Duck, 3 Little Grebes, a singing Stonechat and 3 Marsh Harriers.
At Plemont were 9 Razorbills, a Guillemot and 5 Fulmars and a Peregrine plus a pair of Kestrel were at Grosnez.
In Vallee des Vaux were 4 Siskins and 4 Bullfinches and at Grouville Marsh were 2 Marsh Harriers and a drumming Great Spotted Woodpecker.
