19.04.2024 white J57, a Jersey ringed female Marsh Harrier currently breeding at St Ouen's Pond MD
A mainly grey and cold morning, brightening up this afternoon, but still cold in a fresh westerly wind.
Two Cuckoos were reported today - one at Rozel Manor in St Martin and one at Chestnut Farm near to Noirmont. Also seen at Noirmont were 4 Swallows, a Peregrine and a Dartford Warbler.
At St Ouen's Pond this morning were a Sedge Warbler, 6 Shovelers, a Whimbrel, 3 Marsh Harriers, 15 Swallows and 10 Sand Martins and on the Scrape were a Hen Harrier, a Greenshank, a Shoveler, a Snipe, 6 Lapwings and 5 Cetti's Warblers and to the north of the Pond were the first Whinchat of the year, a Wheatear, 3 Reed Warblers flying over, 100 Swallows, 40 Sand Martins and 2 House Martins. In the Sandpits were 50+ Sand Martins, 60+ Swallows and a House Martin.
Early morning movements past Corbiere included a single Manx Shearwater, 31 Guillemots, 6 Fulmars, 27 Gannets, 21 Shags, 2 Cormorants, 48 Lesser Black-backed Gulls, 123 Swallows, 4 Sand Martins, 11 Linnets, a White Wagtail and a Peregrine and at Petit Port were a pair of Shelduck and 4 Little Egrets.
At Grands Vaux reservoir were a Common Sandpiper and 2 House Martins.
Evening update: At La Rocque were a Black-headed Gull, 2 Bar-tailed Godwits and 2 Swallows and at La Sente were a Yellow Wagtail, a Pied Wagtail, 18 White Wagtails, a Little Ringed Plover and a Shelduck.
Extras from late yesterday include a Green Sandpiper at La Sente and 2 Teal at Grouville Marsh.
