22.02.2024 The male Shelduck at La Sente, thanks to Tom Frazer
A mixed day of sunshine and heavy showers accompanied by a strong westerly wind.
Seen at La Sente throughout the day were 73 Cattle Egret, 37 Little Egret, 2 Grey Heron, 71 Redshank, 5 Greenshank, 59 Curlew, 2 Shelduck, 2 Shoveler, 350 Brent Geese including a Pale-bellied, 450 Black-headed Gull, 4 Mediterranean Gull, 2 Common Gull, a Lesser Black-backed Gull, a Yellow-legged Gull, 11 Redwing, 6 Pied Wagtail and a Marsh Harrier.
Nearby at La Rocque were 65 Brent Geese which included three colour-ringed birds, a regular and two new visitors all ringed in the Netherlands.
A Great White Egret was seen briefly in fields opposite Motormall during a shower this morning.
At Petit Port were 10 Mediterranean Gull, 3 Lesser Black-backed Gull and 34 Curlew while at St Ouen's Pond were 16 Wigeon, 2 Pochard, 8 Shoveler, a Little Grebe and 9 Lapwing.
Beaumont Marsh again held 480 Brent Geese, 5 Shoveler, 5 Snipe, a Curlew and 2 Little Egret.
