28.11.2024 Not a bird you expect to see in late November! The long-staying Hoopoe was still feeding on the beach near Jersey Pearl today RdC
A fresh day with the odd sunny spell and a light south easterly wind.
Passing over Victoria Tower early on were 14,573 Starling, 118 Redwing, 6 Song Thrush, 3 Blackbird, 171 Chaffinch, 4 Brambling, 14 Greenfinch, a Pied Wagtail, 2 Cormorant, 3 Lesser Black-backed Gull and surprisingly a Water Rail was scurrying around in the car park there.
This afternoon a Short-eared Owl was seen at Noirmont while at Beaumont Marsh were 7 Shoveler, 5 Snipe and 3 Redwing.
Below, a short video of the Hoopoe, feeding away on the beach thanks to Jo Bramley.
