29.08.2024 Juvenile Dartford Warbler at Noirmont MD
A fair to fine day with a westerly wind
Hirundine migration is getting into swing now and today at Noirmont saw counts of 1,551 Swallows, 225 House Martins and 115 Sand Martins. Also flying over were 3 Swifts, 14 Tree Pipits, 3 Yellow Wagtails, a White Wagtail, 5 Grey Herons, 5 Lesser Black-backed Gulls and local birds included a Peregrine, a Sparrowhawk, 10 Buzzards, 2 Kestrels 3 Ravens and 2 Choughs. On the ground were a Whinchat, a Wheatear, 4 Whitethroats, a Willow Warbler, 2 Spotted Flycatchers, 5 Firecrests and 8 Stonechats.
At Les Landes, a Dotterel was heard flying over and a Wheatear and 6 Stonechats were on the ground. A Peregrine was on rocks offshore at Le Pulec.
Early seabirds passing Corbiere included 23 Balearic Shearwaters, 7 Manx Shearwaters, 2 Common Scoters, 31 Gannets, 13 Cormorants, 28 Mediterranean Gulls, 3 Black-headed Gulls, 16 Lesser Black-backed Gulls and a single Tree Pipit. 10 Choughs were on the headland there visiting a local garden. 2 Stonechats were on Beauport Common.
On the Scrape were 7 Teal, a Greenshank, 2 Snipe and a Grey Heron.
