31.07.2024 Little Egret passing Corbiere MD
A beautiful and hot day to see July out, with light variable winds and 27c
New today were a Wheatear near Sands in St Ouen's Bay and another Wheatear on Les Ecrehous, as well as 2 Willow Warblers and 200+ Sandwich Terns. A Great White Egret was seen flying in, high over La Rocque, where 2 Greenshanks and 5 Sandwich Terns were also seen.
12 Redshanks were at St Aubin and over Red Houses this afternoon were 100+ Swifts and a Sparrowhawk. On the Scrape were 4+ Green Sandpipers.
Early movement past Corbiere involved 42 Balearic Shearwaters, 2 Common Scoters, 14 Cormorants, 2 Fulmars, 77 Gannets, a Kittiwake, 11 Mediterranean Gulls, 4 Black-headed Gulls, 6 Lesser Black-backed Gulls and a Sparrowhawk, with 6 Bottle-nosed Dolphins moving East early on.
Some passage of birds over Noirmont mid-morning included 77 Swifts, 48 Swallows, a Sand Martin, 8 House Martins and 4 Lesser Black-backed Gulls. Local birds at Noirmont were 3 juvenile Stonechats, 2 juvenile Dartford Warblers, 3 Buzzards including a pale phase bird, and a Sparrowhawk with 2 Willow Warblers also on the ground there.
Extra reports from yesterday: 5 Common Sandpipers were in the Sandpits with 45 Mediterranean Gulls, 30 Black-headed Gulls, 28 Great Black-backed Gulls and 7 Lesser Black-backed Gulls in St Ouen's Bay.
