A mainly overcast or cloudy day to see August out, coupled with a fresh east-northeast wind
There was little by way of visible migration in the overcast conditions, but a few more birds on the ground. Through the morning, at Grouville Marsh were a Purple Heron, 2 Grey Herons, 25 Willow Warblers, 25 Chiffchaffs, 15 Blackcaps, a Sedge Warbler, a Reed Warbler still feeding young, a Spotted Flycatcher, a Whitethroat, a male Redstart, 35 Yellow Wagtails, a Bunting sp, 150 Swallows, 60 House Martins, 2 Bullfinches, 2 Teal and a Water Rail.
At a breezy Noirmont were 4 Wheatears, a Whinchat, 5 Stonechats, a Redstart, a Whitethroat, 3 Tree Pipits, a Yellow Wagtail, 9 Swallows, 2 Ravens and a Chough.
A few seabirds passing Corbiere included 35 Balearic Shearwaters, 6 Manx Shearwaters, one distant large shearwater sp, a Guillemot, 38 Gannets, 16 Cormorants, 14 Mediterranean Gulls, 18 Black-headed Gulls, 5 Sandwich Terns, 21 Lesser Black-backed Gulls, a Redshank, and 10 arriving Yellow Wagtails. 2 Peregrines and 5 Wheatears were on the headland. At Petit Port were 29 Curlews, 7 Mediterranean Gulls, a Black-headed Gull, a Grey Heron, 6 Little Egrets and a Wheatear.
In Vallee des Vaux were 80 Swallows, 30 House Martins and a Willow Warbler and at Grands Vaux reservoir were a Kingfisher, a Grey Wagtail and 4 young fledged Tufted Ducks
On the Scrape today were 6 Teal, a Greenshank, , 2 Snipe, a Grey Heron, 7 Swallows, 2 Water Rails, 3 Meadow Pipits and a pale-phase Buzzard, possibly the same bird that roosted on Mont Matthieu last night.
