01.10.2024   A fine Wheatear in this morning's sun at Noirmont   MD



A fair to cloudy day, feeling much warmer than of recent in a light west-northwest wind


Visible migration staggered back into action, after several poor day due to weather. Seen passing or at Noirmont this morning were 578 Swallows, 8 House Martins, 3 Skylarks, 323 Meadow Pipits, 4 alba Wagtails, a Grey Wagtail, 8 Cormorants, 4 Wheatears, 6 Blackbirds, 4 Stonechats, 5 Robins, 2 Blackcaps, 6 Chiffchaffs, 82 Linnets, 22 Goldfinches and 11 Chaffinches. Local raptors there included 12 Buzzards, a Marsh Harrier, 2 Sparrowhawks and 2 Kestrels.


Seen at Les Landes were 9 Stonechats, 6 Dartford Warblers, 3 Chiffchaffs, 5 Swallows, a few Meadow Pipits and 2 Marsh Harriers.


At Le Hocq were 54 Curlews, 9 Little Egrets, 120 Oystercatchers and a Grey Heron and at the Happy Hens were 6 Ravens, 10 Buzzards, 30 Swallows, a House Martin, a Marsh Harrier and a Sparrowhawk. Another 30 House Martins were over St Clement and at the Gunsite, in St Aubin's Bay, were 120 Brent Geese and a Cormorant.


At Petit Port this evening were 3 Turnstones, a Common Sandpiper, a Kingfisher, a Grey Heron and 8 Little Egrets


Below: unexpected visitors at the Noirmont bunker this morning were these 4 escaped Jersey Bulls. All passed peacefully!
