A cloudy and grey morning, with some light rain later morning, after which, Swallows started flying over in force.
Brent Geese continue to arrive on Island. In St Aubin's Bay were 88 dark-bellied Brent Geese and 40 pale-bellied Brent Geese. also 18 Redshanks, a Turnstone and a Little Egret at St Aubin, while in Grouville Bay were 208 dark-bellied Brent Geese. Also in Grouville Bay were 54 Turnstones, 44 Grey Plovers, 39 Sanderlings, 8 Dunlin, 5 Bar-tailed Godwits, 10 Curlews and a Great Crested Grebe.
Passing over Noirmont through the morning were 2 Great White Egrets, a Grey Heron, 7 Ringed Plovers, 1,020 Swallows, 166 House Martins, 3 Song Thrushes, a Skylark, 10 alba Wagtails, 5 Grey Wagtails, 85 Linnets, 2 Chaffinches, 46 Goldfinches, 2 House Sparrows, and 2 Lesser Black-backed Gulls. Also seen there were 2 Dartford Warblers, 5 Chiffchaffs, 2 Wheatears, 2 Stonechats, a Firecrest, 2 Jays, 2 Sparrowhawks and a Marsh Harrier.
At Corbiere and in St Brelade's Bay this afternoon was a steady westward passage of Swallows with good numbers also seen at Mont Matthieu, this time moving southeast. A Grey Wagtail was also seen in St Brelade's Bay and 2 Grey Wagtails were at Grands Vaux.
Seen on Mont Bingham in St Helier were 4 Chiffchaffs, a few Meadow Pipits, 22 Swallows and 2 House Martins and by the Western Fire Station at Quennevais was a flock of 22 Starlings, a species thin on the ground at the moment.
Evening update: Swallows were still moving late this afternoon, notably at Kempt Tower, Le Catillon and La Rocque, with 15 House Martins also at le Catillon and with single Mediterranean Gull and Sandwich Tern seen at Seymour. 5 Cormorants were at Grands Vaux.
