02.02.2024 A group of handsome Red-breasted Merganser at La Rocque, the males being in a displaying mood, thanks to Susan Renouf for these images.


A cloudy and misty day with patchy drizzle and a westerly wind


Seen in Grouville Bay were 10 Bar-tailed Godwit, 24 Ringed Plover, 98 Grey Plover, 185 Sanderling, 320 Dunlin and a Common Gull while nearby at La Sente were 322 Brent Geese, 2 Shoveler, 54 Redshank, 6 Greenshank, 5 Cattle Egret, 22 Little Egret, 10 Grey Heron, a Common Gull and 68 Black-headed Gull. At Green Island were 2 Sandwich Tern.


At Grouville Marsh were a Little Bunting, 46 Reed Bunting, 6 Cetti's Warbler, 25 Redwing, 10 Water Rail, 55 Jackdaw, 120 Carrion Crow, 3 Teal, 6 Woodcock, 2 Marsh Harrier and 46 Cattle Egret with another near Surville Cemetery.


At Beaumont Marsh were 180 Brent Geese, 2 Shoveler, a Curlew, 7 Snipe, 2 Little Egret and a Pied Wagtail with another 170 Brent Geese at St Aubins.


17 Razorbill were back along the north coast, near Plemont this morning.


Elsewhere 18 Wigeon and 200 Brent Geese were at St Ouen's Pond, 31 Curlew were roosting at Petit Port, a Grey Wagtail was in a garden at Greve de Lecq and in Vallee des Vaux were a Bullfinch and a singing Goldcrest.
