03.03.2024 The Pink-footed Goose giving a good comparison of size and shape alongside our local Greylag Geese RdC
A mild sunny day with a light south westerly wind
Seen around St Ouen's Pond were the Pink-footed Goose, 9 Wigeon, 11 Shoveler, a Pochard, a Little Grebe, 2 Oystercatcher, 9 Teal, 300 Brent Geese and 20 Starling while near Sands were 8 Ringed Plover and 3 Dunlin.
Not much was seen at Petit Port again due to the regular fisherman disturbing everything while they are trying to roost! nearby at Corbiere were 19 Purple Sandpiper and at St Aubins were 34 Redshank and 3 Turnstone.
Up at Le Catillon were 41 Common Gull, 16 Mediterranean Gull, 22 Black-headed Gull, a Yellow-legged Gull, 9 Lesser Black-backed Gull, 100 Herring Gull, 2 Grey Heron and a Peregrine.
At La Sente were 2 Shoveler, 18 Redshank, a Greenshank, 16 Cattle Egret, 15 Little Egret, 5 Grey Heron, a Common Gull, 3 Moorhen, 2 Raven and 200 Brent Geese with another 240 Brent Geese along Rue du Pont.
Cowley Farm held 11 Cattle Egret, a Tufted Duck, 8 Pied Wagtail, 100 Black-headed Gull and a Mediterranean Gull and in Vallee des Vaux were a Siskin, a Redwing, 8 Woodcock, 6 Bullfinch, a Firecrest and 2 Raven.
