06.10.2024 A Skylark over Noirmont this week MD
An overcast morning with drizzle and some poor visibility, drying up before lunchtime, then heavy showers this afternoon. Winds were south-southwest and fresh.
Migrants moved over Noirmont despite the conditions at times and included 2 Mistle Thrushes, 46 Song Thrushes, 5 Blackbirds, 81 Swallows, 2 House Martins, a Yellow Wagtail, an alba Wagtail, 435 Meadow Pipits, 9 Grey Herons, 42 Starlings, 34 Lesser Black-backed Gulls, 10 Great Black-backed Gulls, a Peregrine, 2 Choughs, 2 Ravens and on the ground, 4 Stonechats, 2 Dartford Warblers and a Blackcap.
Through the morning, at Ouaisne, were a probable Yellow-browed Warbler, 12 Song Thrushes, 5 Blackcaps, 20 Chiffchaffs, 5 Firecrests, a Dartford Warbler, 4 Grey Herons, a Water Rail and a Kingfisher.
At Petit Port were 26 Mediterranean Gulls, 24 Great Black-backed Gulls, 3 Lesser Black-backed Gulls, 25 Curlews, 2 Turnstones, 3 Little Egrets, a Kingfisher and 4 Swallows and on St Ouen's Beach were 50 Great Black-backed Gulls and 5 Lesser Black-backed Gulls. At St Aubin were 16 Redshanks and at the Gunsite were c 370 Brent Geese. 3 Stonechats and a Water Rail were at Beauport.
In Grouville Bay, as viewed from Seymour were 325 Brent Geese, 34 Grey Plovers, 5 Bar-tailed Godwits, 24 Turnstones, 9 Ringed Plovers, 7 Dunlin, 51 Sanderlings, 15 Little Egrets, 31 Curlews, 2 Mediterranean Gulls, 12 Sandwich Terns and 2 Grey Herons.
In Grouville Marsh were 4 Cattle Egrets and 24 Coot and a single Cattle Egret was at La Lourderie. At La Hougue Bie were 11 Swallows.
In Vallee des Vaux were 5 Firecrests, 2 Goldcrests, 4 Chiffchaffs, one an abietinus, 2 Bullfinches, a Grey Wagtail, 2 Short-toed Treecreepers, 3 Jays and a Grey Heron.
