09.06.2024 One of today's Curlews at Corbiere MD
A fine day in a Northerly wind
A busier morning at sea, as viewed from Corbiere, with morning-long counts including 830 Manx Shearwaters, 16 Balearic Shearwaters, 19 Fulmars, 51 Gannets, 43 Guillemots, 20 Shags, 2 Cormorants, 2 Kittiwakes, 5 Lesser Black-backed Gulls, 19 Great Black-backed Gulls, 3 Curlews and 3 Swallows, with a female Marsh Harrier and a Kestrel hunting on the headland and 4 Choughs feeding there. The Manx Shearwater count today was the highest ever day count for the site in June, as the dramatic upward shift in shearwater appearance off the South-west coast of the last three years looks to be continuing.
Along the Northwest coast were 7 Swifts, a Peregrine, a Kestrel, a Marsh Harrier, 20 Linnets and a Puffin carrying food, while offshore were 40 Manx Shearwaters, 3 Balearic Shearwaters, 6 Fulmars and 2 Razorbills. 6 Little Egrets were at Le Pulec and another 3 were at Petit Port where 2 Shelduck were also seen.
In Rue du Bechet, Trinity were 2 Great Spotted Woodpeckers.
