Still grey today and feeling cold in an east-northeast wind


On St Ouen's Pond were a male Pintail, 3 Teal, 11 Shovelers, 8 Snipe, 3 Water Rails, a Grey Heron, a Reed Bunting, 2 Stonechats, 2 Water Pipits, an alba Wagtail, a Little Grebe and a Kingfisher, while around Corbiere were 2 Black Redstarts, a Kingfisher and 5 Choughs and at Petit Port were 6 Brent Geese, 26 Curlews, 25 Turnstones and a Golden Plover.


This morning's visible migration counts at Victoria Tower included a Woodlark, a Ring Ouzel, 138 Redwings, 16 Fieldfares, 17 Song Thrushes, 4 Blackbirds, 3 Skylarks, 6,555 Woodpigeons, 26 Stock Doves, 22 Golden Plovers, 714 Starlings, 532 Chaffinches, 8 Bramblings, 21 Goldfinches, 6 Siskins, 14 Meadow Pipits, 2 Pied Wagtails, 146 Black-headed Gulls, 3 Chiffchaffs and 2 Firecrests.


There were less Woodpigeons passing Noirmont than yesterday, but still reaching a total of 10,800. Also seen were 3 Hawfinches, 11 Skylarks, 453 Starlings, 12 Fieldfares, 38 Redwings, 6 Song Thrushes, 5 Lapwings, 5 Cormorants, 140 Chaffinches, 10 Linnets, 53 Goldfinches, 6 Greenfinches, 2 Blackbirds, 4 Lesser Black-backed Gulls and on the ground were 2 Dartford Warblers, 2 Stonechats and several Firecrests and Goldcrests in the boundary fence trees.


Passage over Red Houses this afternoon involved 710 Woodpigeons and 500+ Starlings heading east in an hour.


Cattle Egrets today seen today included 18 at Rue a Don in Grouville, 40 at Grouville Marsh and 4 at La Hougue Bie.  Elsewhere, Numbers of Redwings and Fieldfares were in trees at Samares Manor, a male Black Redstart was at Havre des Pas, 2 Grey Herons and 2 Jays were at Gorselands and 2 Grey Herons plus a Grey Wagtail were at Grands Vaux.
