A better day for weather today, with even some sunshine! Winds were light from the southeast.


Another bumper day for Woodpigeons saw 28,382 passing or arriving at Noirmont, mostly in the first hour after sunrise. Also seen at Noirmont were 37 Brent Geese with a Wigeon for company, a Hawfinch, 51 Fieldfares, 58 Redwings, 13 Song Thrushes, 4 Skylarks, 1,213 Starlings, 158 Chaffinches, 15 Goldfinches, one Linnet, 13 Greenfinches, 29 Stock Doves, a Sparrowhawk, a Marsh Harrier, 2 Dartford Warblers, 2 Chiffchaffs and 2 Ravens.


Victoria Tower counts included another 17,086 Woodpigeons, 4 Hawfinches, 4 Mistle Thrushes, 758 Redwings, 171 Fieldfares, 29 Song Thrushes, 6 Blackbirds, 5 Skylarks, 46 Stock Doves, 248 Starlings, 8 Golden Plovers, a Snipe, 592 Chaffinches, 6 Bramblings, 48 Goldfinches, 15 Siskins, 11 Meadow Pipits, 4 Pied Wagtails, 3 Mallards, 4 Lesser Black-backed Gulls, 76 Black-headed Gulls, 2 Firecrests, 5 Goldcrests and a Chiffchaff.


On a negative note, neither of the Snow Buntings on the East coast was seen today.


On the Pond, as seen from the Wetland Centre were 5 Snipe, a Water Rail, a Reed Bunting, a Teal, 12 Shovelers, 2 Wigeon, a Water Pipit, 2 Choughs, a Stonechat, a Grey Heron, 2 alba Wagtails and a Grey Wagtail, while on the Scrape was a Bittern. A Black Redstart was on the Cutty Sark and at Sands were 41 Ringed Plovers, a Snipe and 3 Sanderlings. In the Sandpits, were 22 Little Grebes, 2 Pochard, 4 Grey Herons, 67 Coot, 18 Tufted Ducks, 2 Shovelers, a Teal and 2 Lesser Black-backed Gulls.  A Kingfisher was on the beach near the square tower and 6 Choughs plus a Stonechat were seen on the Sand Dunes.


At Petit port on the high tide were 20 Curlews, 60 Turnstones, 5 Little Egrets, a Lesser Black-backed Gull and a Kingfisher, while Les Creux was a Firecrest and at Beauport, 2 Blackcaps visited a garden feeder. On St Aubin's Hill were 22 Redwings, a Song Thrush, 9 Blackbirds, 2 Firecrests and a Goldcrest and in Beaumont Marsh were 3 Teal, 6 Snipe and a Grey Heron.


9 Cattle Egrets were at Le Catillon and another 13 were at La Hougue Bie. 10 Fieldfares were seen over St Mary's School; and 12 Siskins were seen over St Clement. 35 Jackdaws and a Grey Heron were on Grouville Common.
