A fair to fine day, feeling warm in light winds
A settled day reduced bird movement off shore and in 2 hours at Corbiere, a Manx Shearwater, 77 Gannets, 4 Sandwich Terns, 10 Mediterranean Gulls, 41 Black-headed Gulls, 19 Lesser Black-backed Gulls, 2 Yellow-legged Gulls, a Grey Heron, a Curlew, 2 Peregrines, a White Wagtail, 4 Swifts, 4 Swallows and a surprising Great Spotted Woodpecker were seen. 15 Bottle-nosed Dolphins moved east offshore too. In Petit Port Bay were 8 Curlews.
Seen from a boat between Jersey and Guernsey were a Puffin carrying food towards the North coast of Jersey, a Storm Petrel and close to Guernsey, numbers of rafts of Manx and Balearic Shearwaters with over a thousand birds involved.
At St Ouen's Pond Scrape this morning were the family of 4 Shelduck, 2 juvenile Shovelers, 3 Grey Herons, a juvenile Water Rail, 5 Lapwings, a Sedge Warbler in display flight, 2 Oystercatchers, juvenile Reed Warblers with adults still in song, a Swift, 20 Swallows and 10 Sand Martins.
