17.06.2024 A recent image of a Common Tern in flight MD
A warm day (22c) with increasing amounts of high cloud ahead of forecast rain tonight. Winds were light southeasterly.
There was a good report of a male Yellowhammer at the top of Mount Heulin this morning and halfway down the hill was a singing Cetti's Warbler.
Just a few seabirds passed Corbiere early on this morning, which included 16 Balearic Shearwaters, 11 Manx Shearwaters, 8 Guillemots, 2 Fulmars, 23 Gannets, a Shelduck, an adult Mediterranean Gull, a Kittiwake, 4 Lesser Black-backed Gulls and 8 Bottle-nosed Dolphins. At Petit Port was a single Shelduck and at La Pulente was a family of Shelduck with 6 young.
At Plemont through the day were 2 Puffins carrying food, 20 Razorbills, 30 Swifts, a Peregrine, a pair of Kestrel, and a Blackcap.
Around St Ouen's Pond and Scrape were a pair of Shelduck with 2 rapidly growing young, 2 Lapwings, 3 Marsh Harriers, 2 Swifts, 2 Grey Herons, a Shoveler, a Tufted Duck, 10 Sand Martins and 7 Swallows.
At Noirmont this afternoon were 4 Stock Doves, 2 Dartford Warblers, 2 Stonechats carrying food, 10+ Chiffchaffs, 15 Linnets and 4 Swallows. Another Dartford Warbler and a juvenile Kestrel were at Beauport and 3 Fulmars were at La Moye.
Out East, 3 Grey Herons and 7 Curlews were at La Rocque while in Fountain Lane were 2 Marsh Harriers, a Buzzard, a Kestrel, 2 Swifts, 3 Jays, 4 Jackdaws, 20 Linnets, 10 Greenfinches and a Cetti's Warbler.
