18.06.2024 A male Dartford Warbler at Plemont this morning MD
Overnight rain continued through the morning before a clearance to fair conditions in a northeast wind.
It was a quiet morning for seabirds and counts in two hours at a rainy Corbiere amounted to 4 Balearic Shearwaters, 4 Manx Shearwaters, 16 Gannets, 2 Cormorants, 15 Shags, a Kittiwake, 10 Lesser Black-backed Gulls and 32 Great Black-backed Gulls. Also seen there were 2 Peregrines and a single Raven. The family of Shelduck was still at La Pulente this morning and still with 6 young present.
At a breezy Plemont were 10+ Swifts, 5 Swallows, a Peregrine, a Kestrel, 4 Choughs, a Raven, 20 Linnets and a male Dartford Warbler in song.
6 Common Terns were near Elizabeth Castle in St Aubin's Bay, 25 Swifts were on the West side of the Albert Pier and a Sparrowhawk was seen in flight over St Helier.
In the Sandpits were 75 Sand Martins including newly fledged young, 2 fledged Marsh Harrier young, 18 Tufted Duck, a Shelduck, a Pochard, the male Wigeon, a Whooper Swan, 40 Coot, 5 White Wagtails including 3 juveniles, 4 Swifts, a pair of Stonechat and, on Les Mielles Golf Course were the Barnacle Goose / Pink-footed Goose combo. A flock of 28+ Starlings were near Green Island
There have been no further sightings of the Yellowhammer at Millais.
