19.06.2024 Firecrest at Les Creux MD
A day of clear conditions with some high cloud, but a northeast wind increasing to strong and gusty.
At Seymour today were 8 Black-headed Gulls as they begin to return to the Island, also 2 Sandwich Terns. At least 2 Common Terns were near Elizabeth Castle today.
3 Balearic Shearwaters were seen from a survey boat to the west of St Ouen's Bay in very choppy conditions but little else of note.
In St Peter's Valley were Blackcaps carrying food for young, 2 Firecrests, a Buzzard and a Tufted Duck on the small pond. A male Marsh Harrier was seen hunting above Mont Matthieu while in St Helier Great Black-backed Gulls were feeding young on rooftops at the Hospital.
A report from Les Ecrehous yesterday saw at least 4
Sandwich Terns there, but
Common Terns seem to have abandoned Marmotier, at least for the present.
